sing的基本意思是“唱”“歌唱”,指以高低不同的音符發(fā)出一連串的悅耳的聲響,其后一般接song或歌曲的名稱。引申可表示“(鳥等)鳴叫”“(水壺、風(fēng)等)嗡嗡作響”“發(fā)出嗖嗖聲”“(耳)鳴”“歌頌”,還可作“吟詠”解,其主語可以是人、鳥、小溪等。

sing既可用作及物動詞,也可用作不及物動詞。用作及物動詞時,可接簡單賓語、同源賓語,也可接雙賓語,其間接賓語可以轉(zhuǎn)化為介詞for或to的賓語。sing還可接以動詞不定式充當(dāng)補足語的復(fù)合賓語。
