as可以作連詞、介詞及關(guān)系代詞。現(xiàn)將其用法小結(jié)如下:

一、 as作連詞的用法:

1. 作"當(dāng)……的時候",引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句。注意與when、 while的用法區(qū)別。

① when作"當(dāng)……的時候"解,可以指較短的(一點(diǎn))時間,也可指一段時間。如:

When he was at college, he could speak several foreign languages. (表示一段時間)

When the clock struck twelve, all the lights in the street went out. (表示時刻)

② while常表示一段較長的時間或一個過程,強(qiáng)調(diào)主句謂語動詞與從句謂語動詞同時發(fā)生。如:

Work while you work. Play while you play.

③ 但屬下列情形時,只用as, 而不用when或while。

A) 用于表示同一個人的兩種動作交替進(jìn)行,指"一邊……,一邊……"。如:

The girl dances as she sings on the stage.

He looked behind from time to time// as he went forward.

B)表示兩個同步發(fā)展的動作或行為,譯為"隨著……"。如:

As time went on / by, she became more and more worried.

As children get older, they become more and more interested in the things around them.

C)表示兩個短促行為或事件幾乎同時發(fā)生。如:

I thought of it //just as you opened your mouth.

Just as the flying worm hit her face, she gave a loud cry.

D) 后接名詞表示某一年齡段時,用as。如:

As a young man, he was active in sports.

2. as=since, 作"既然"、"由于"解,引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句,常用來表示已為人們所知或顯而易見的原因或理由。如:

As / Since you're not feeling well, you may stay at home.

As he wasn't ready in time, we went without him.

3. as=in the way that, 作"像"、"按照……的方式"解,引導(dǎo)方式狀語從句。如:

He speaks English as Americans do.

Remember, you must do everything as I do.

4. 用于as...as...或not so/ as...as...中,前一個as是副詞(副詞后面跟形容詞、動詞、副詞),后一個as是連詞(連詞后面可以跟動詞、形容詞、句子),引導(dǎo)比較狀語從句。如:

They helped the old man as often as possible.

I don't speak English so/ as well as he does.

5. 作"雖然"、"盡管"解,引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句。常用倒裝語序,即adj. /adv. / n.+ as +主語+謂語+主句。如:

Tired as they were, they walked on.

Child as he is, he knows a lot. (child前不用冠詞)

二、 as作關(guān)系代詞,引導(dǎo)定語從句,作"正如"、"這一點(diǎn)"解。如:

He is very careful, as his work shows.

As is well-known, Taiwan belongs to China.

另外,當(dāng)先行詞被the same, such等詞修飾時,常用as來引導(dǎo)定語從句。如:

Such a clever boy as he can learn anything quickly.

I was reading the same book as he bought yesterday.

三、 as作介詞的用法:

as引導(dǎo)的介詞短語大多用作狀語,as譯為"作為";少數(shù)情況可引起賓語補(bǔ)足語。如:

As a League member, I'll take the lead in everything. (狀語)

She works as a doctor. (狀語)

They have me as one of their own children.(引起賓語補(bǔ)足語)

這里的as結(jié)構(gòu)是view... as... ，view的賓語是關(guān)系代詞which，它指代前面的先行詞stock-market swings，這句話翻譯為：許多消費(fèi)者已經(jīng)受到股票市場波動的影響，而投資者們正在將這些波動視為經(jīng)濟(jì)長期繁榮必要因素。

as作為連詞詞性時，可以引導(dǎo)各類從句。

as 引導(dǎo)定語從句

as引導(dǎo)定語從句時，既可以引導(dǎo)限制性定語從句，又可以引導(dǎo)非限制性定語從句。as引導(dǎo)限制性定語從句可見于such...as結(jié)構(gòu)中，可代替先行詞或物的名詞。如Let’s discuss only such problems as concern us.讓我們只討論與我們有關(guān)的問題。as還可引導(dǎo)非限制性定語從句，代替整個主句，對其進(jìn)行說明。如As might be expected, the response to the question was very mixed. As代替后面的主句，在從句中做主語。正如所料，人們對于這個問題的觀點(diǎn)不一。

as引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句

as引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句, 此時相當(dāng)于although，意思是雖然，盡管。as引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句一律采取倒裝形式。如Angry as he was, he couldn’t help smiling.盡管他很生氣，但他還是忍不住笑了。

真題例句：Symbolic of national unity as they claim to be, their very history-and sometimes the way they behave today-embodies outdated and indefensible privileges and inequalities.(2015年Text 1)

前半句話是由as引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句，是部分倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)，正常語序為as they claim to be symbolic of national unity，修飾主句。

譯文：盡管他們宣稱自己代表著國家統(tǒng)一，但是正是他們以往的歷史以及現(xiàn)在有時的行為方式體現(xiàn)了已經(jīng)過時的、站不住腳的特權(quán)和不公平。

as引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句

as引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句，可以翻譯成“當(dāng)……時候;隨著……”如He gets more attractive as he gets older. 隨著年齡的增長，他變得愈發(fā)有魅力。

真題例句：

Now utopia has grown unfashionable, as we have gained a deeper appreciation of the range of threats facing us, from asteroid strike to epidemic flu and to climate change.(2013年Text 3)

譯文：現(xiàn)如今這種空想的美好社會已經(jīng)過時了，我們對面臨的威脅范圍有了更深刻的認(rèn)識，從彗星撞擊到流行感冒，再到氣候變化。

as引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句

as引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句，表示的是雙方都知道的原因?？煞g成既然，由于。如As it was getting late, I decided to book into a hotel.因為天色已晚，我決定找間飯店投宿。

as引導(dǎo)的方式狀語從句

as表示按照，以……方式，像……一樣，正如。如Careful surveys have indicated that as many as 50 percent of patients do not take drugs as directed.這里的as是以……方式，按照。這句話翻譯為仔細(xì)的調(diào)查表明，多達(dá)50%的病人未按規(guī)定服藥。

as引導(dǎo)的比較狀語從句

as引導(dǎo)比較狀語從句，其基本結(jié)構(gòu)是as…as。前一個as是副詞，后一個as是比較狀語從句的連詞。如It’s not as good as it used to be.這個不如以前的好。

(1)...as+形容詞(副詞)原級+as...;not as/so+形容詞(副詞)原級+as...

(2)……倍數(shù)+ as + 形容詞(副詞)原級+as...

(3)as + 形容詞+ a/an + 單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞+ as; as + 形容詞+復(fù)數(shù)名詞+ as

She is as good many records as possible.我們需要盡量多的唱片。

There is as much sugar in it as eight pieces of sugar.其中的含糖量相當(dāng)于八塊方糖。

I have’t got as much money as I thought.我沒有原來想象的那么多錢。

(4)as/so long as 只要;如果

You may use that dictionary as long as you take care of it.只要你好好保存，你可以用那本詞典。

as a matter of fact=in fact事實(shí)上、實(shí)際上……

It seems easy,but as a matter of fact,it’ll take us a long time to work it out.

(5)as much/ many as多達(dá)……，……那么多

On Sports Day, during the relay race, you will use most of all, perhaps as much as 650 calories an hour.在運(yùn)動會上，進(jìn)行接力賽跑時，你消耗的能量最多，可能每小時多達(dá)650卡。

As many as 700 different languages are spoken in Africa.非洲有多達(dá)700種不同的語言。

He didn’t catch as many as he’d hoped.他沒有捉住預(yù)想的那么多。

(6)as...as possible; as... as one can

The teacher should write the words on the blackboard as carefully as he can. =The teacher should write the words on the blackboard as carefully as possible.老師在黑板上應(yīng)盡可能仔細(xì)地把字寫好。

Please be as friendly as possible to your friends.=Please be as friendly as you can.請對你的朋友盡可能友好。

(7)as...as + 年代數(shù)字/名詞

As early as 1950 I knew him.早在1950 年我就認(rèn)識他了。

He walked as far as the post office.他步行到郵局。

(8)as/so far as I know

As/ So for as I know, he will be away from home for 3 months.就我所知，他將要離家3個月。

(9)as soon as—……就……

Please let us know as soon as you arrive in Bejing.一到北京，請通知我們一聲。

(10)as well as 和;也;還有

He gave me money as well as advice.他除了給我忠告外，還給我錢。

He studies French as well as English.他不但學(xué)習(xí)英語，而且學(xué)習(xí)法語。

區(qū)別下列用法

1)as(so)far as 和……一樣遠(yuǎn)，遠(yuǎn)至(原級比較或表示距離);就……來講

2)as(so)long as 和……一樣長(原級比較);只要(引導(dǎo)條件狀語從句)

3)as well as和……一樣好;既……也……(連接并列成分)

4)as good as和……一樣好;事實(shí)上(作狀語)

as if可用as though替換，在此引導(dǎo)表語從句，另外它們也可引導(dǎo)狀語從句，從句既可用陳述語氣，也可用虛擬語氣。如：

①It looks as if /though it’s going to rain.(陳述語氣)

②You look as if you’d seen a ghost.(虛擬語氣)

as is the case with = as with ……就和……的情況一樣

As is the case with his mother, he is fond of music. 跟母親一樣，他喜歡音樂。

As with human, animals also love their babies. 同人一樣，動物也愛它們的幼仔。

as good as

as good as 作為固定詞組意為“幾乎一樣”，“實(shí)際上等于”，作為同級比較結(jié)構(gòu)，意為“和……一樣好”。如：

①He is as good at English as me.②My bike is as good as yours.

…as it is

該固定詞組表達(dá)意思是“就以(現(xiàn)在)這個樣子，”“根據(jù)現(xiàn)在的情況”。

如：He decided to buy the house as it is.

as long as/so long as只要

(1)引導(dǎo)條件狀語從句

You may borrow the book as / so long as you keep it clean. 只要你不把書弄臟，你就可以借。

You will succeed so long as you work hard. 只要你努力就會成功。

As long as you study hard, you’ll make great progress. 只要你努力學(xué)習(xí)，你就會取得很大進(jìn)步。

(2)和……一樣長

This rope is as long as that one.這條繩子和那條一樣長。

This bridge isn’t so/as long as that one.這座橋和那座不一樣長。

(3)長達(dá)……(表時間)

The old couple have been living in the small town as long as 50 years.這對老夫婦已在這個小城鎮(zhèn)里住了長達(dá)50年。

as well/ as well as

as well 表示“也”，是副詞短語，用作狀語，通常放在句末，也可放在主語之后，相當(dāng)于too,但一般無標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號與句子隔開.as well as 通?？醋饕粋€復(fù)合并列連詞,連接兩個成分相同的詞、短語或句子，表示“既……又……，不但……而且……”當(dāng)它連接兩個主語時，謂語動詞的人稱和數(shù)要與第一個主語保持一致。如：

三、連詞as

1.在……期間;當(dāng)……時

3.盡管;雖然

5.為……之事實(shí);正如

6.也一樣(通常后接be或do+主語)

He's a doctor, as was his wife before she had children.

四、固定搭配

1.as for sb.至于

As for the hotel, it was very uncomfortable and miles from the sea.

至于旅館呢，非常不舒服，而且離海邊還遠(yuǎn)。

2.as to sb./ sth.至于

As to correcting our homework, the teacher always makes us do it ourselves.

談到批改我們的作業(yè)，老師總是讓我們自己改。

3.as if / though 似乎;好像

He behaved as if nothing had happened.

他裝作若無其事的樣子。

4.as it is 照現(xiàn)狀看;看樣子

We were hoping to have a holiday next week, as it is, we may not be able to get away.

五、辨析

1.when / while / as

三者都可以引導(dǎo)時間狀語從句，翻譯成“當(dāng)……時”。大多數(shù)情況下都可以互換。when沒有具體要求，時間點(diǎn)和時間段都可以;while只能用于時間段;as更多了一個“隨著”的意思，可以表達(dá)“一邊……一邊……”。

When my mother came into the house, she found me lying there awake.

當(dāng)媽媽走進(jìn)家門時，發(fā)現(xiàn)我正在那睜著眼躺著。

While we were talking happily, the teacher came in.

我們正談著開心，老師走了進(jìn)來。

The little girl sang as she went.

這個小女孩邊走邊唱。

2.because / for / since / as

這幾個都接從句，表示因為，具體區(qū)別可以參照之前的文章提到“因為”只知道because?盤點(diǎn)其他不熟悉的表達(dá)方式，助力寫作

3.although / as

這兩個都可以引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句，但是as要進(jìn)行倒裝。

Although he is young, he knows a lot.

=Young as he is, he knows a lot.

雖然他很小，但是他知道的很多。

4.as for / as to

兩者都可以表示“至于”。as for 更傾向于比較性，兩者有一定的對比。有時可以包含說話人的一種輕蔑、冷淡、不屑、甚至是厭惡之感;as to更傾向于客觀陳述，談話的內(nèi)容大家都有所了解。

You can have a bed; as for him, he'll have to sleep on the floor.

你可以有張床，至于他嘛，打地鋪去吧。
