周瑜叫諸葛亮三天造十萬(wàn)只箭，諸葛亮答應(yīng)了，并立下軍令狀，如造不好，甘受懲罰。周瑜很高興，故意吩咐軍匠不準(zhǔn)備好造箭用的材料，又叫魯肅去探聽(tīng)，回來(lái)報(bào)告他。

靠近曹軍水寨，諸葛亮下令把船一字?jǐn)[開(kāi)，又叫軍士擂鼓吶喊，魯肅十分吃驚，諸葛亮說(shuō)他們只管飲酒取樂(lè)，天亮就回去。曹操以為敵人來(lái)攻，下令讓弓弩手朝他們放箭，諸葛亮又下令把船掉過(guò)頭來(lái)，讓另一面受箭。

天亮了，草靶子上扎滿了箭，軍士們大喊謝謝曹丞相的箭，就使回南岸。這時(shí)曹操才知道上了當(dāng)。

魯肅把借箭的經(jīng)歷告訴了周瑜，周瑜自愧不如。
