名言是用來激勵或者提醒人們的警句。如果你問我挑哪一句做為自己的座右銘，我會挑“虛心萬事能成，自滿十事九空”。是的，這句話一點不錯，通過四年級那件事后，我的感觸更深了，這是為什么呢？

Famous sayings are used to inspire or remind people. If you ask me which one I choose as my motto, I will choose "modesty makes everything possible, complacency makes everything possible.". Yes, that's a good sentence. After the fourth grade event, I felt more deeply. Why?

那是四年級期末考試的事了。那次考試由于我的全面發(fā)揮，考了個不錯的分數(shù)，幸而登上了年級第二的寶座。我很興奮，爸爸媽媽也很高興。但那作為“職業(yè)教師”的媽媽，還是對我說了一大堆“讓我不能驕傲啊”，“要謙虛呀”之類的話。可我早已被勝利沖昏了頭腦，媽媽的話我是左耳進，右耳出。完全不予理睬。上學、放學走在路上，總聽見許多同學在竊竊私語：“呀，他就是年級第二??！”“就是，聽說第一名只比他多0。5分呢！”我聽了這些話后便開始更自大起來。上課吃零食，開小差，不是和同學說話，就是到處傳紙條。更離譜的是，有時我還用語文、數(shù)學書擋著，在下面看漫畫書。同桌老是提醒我，我也是置之不理。一次，同桌見我老毛病又犯了，便開始勸我：“你，你在看，我就告訴老師?！薄叭グ桑グ?，反正我是年級第二，誰怕誰??！”我狂妄地說道，因為我知道他膽小，不敢告訴老師，果然，他沒有那樣做。

時間飛逝，轉(zhuǎn)瞬之間半學期就這樣稀里糊涂地過去了，同桌也不再理我。又到期中考試了。因為前幾次小測試我都拿了高分，這讓原本自大的我更加狂妄了，根本沒把考試放在心上，自認為一定是高分，結果試卷發(fā)下來，我數(shù)學只考了81分，連全班30名都排不上號，一向是“語文強人”的我只考了90分，排在20多名。老師叫我去辦公室談話。一進辦公室，老師便開口了：“張琛，你怎么了，你以前不是這樣的呀，是不是有什么事啊，告訴老師好嗎？聽了老師的話，我心中一陣慚愧：老師還是信任我的啊。于是，我把半學期的學習情況一五一十地說了出來。老師聽了，意味深長地說：“老師送你一句名言，希望你記住它，不要違背它。這句話你應該聽說過，就是：‘虛心萬事能成，自滿十事九空。’你知道它的意思嗎？”我點點頭，開口說：“只要虛心，什么事都能成功；如果驕傲，什么事也不會成功。”老師滿意地點點頭。

“虛心萬事能成，自滿十事九空”，從此就成為了我的座右銘。我想：這句話將伴隨我一生，使我從中受益匪淺。

"Modesty makes everything possible, and complacency makes everything possible." has become my motto ever since. I think: this sentence will be with me all my life, and I will benefit a lot from it.
