It is not clear as to why June 1 was chosen as the ICD: one theory has it that the Chinese consul-general in San Francisco (USA) gathered a number of Chinese orphans to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in 1925 which happened to be on June 1 that year and also coincided with the conference in Geneva.June 1 has since been observed as the ICD by numerous countries especially by Communist countries; in the Western world the ICD is usually celebrated on other days of the year (if at all) and there is often little public awareness about these celebrations. Consequently there is sometimes a misperception that June 1 as the ICD was a Communist invention. Nonetheless in recent years even some groups within the United States started observing the ICD on June 1.
In June 1942, German Fascist Party guards surrounded the village of liditzer near Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. They shot and killed more than 140 male citizens over the age of 16. All the babies and women were taken to the concentration camp, and 90 other children were taken to a concentration camp in Poland (only 17 of them lived until the end of the war). All the houses and buildings in the village were burnt down or razed to the ground by bulldozers. In this way, a good village was destroyed by the fascist SS. In order to mourn the children who died in the war in liditzer village and all over the world, oppose the imperialist war traffickers to kill and poison children, and protect the rights of children, the Council of the International Federation of democratic women, which was held in Moscow, the capital of the Soviet Union, in November 1949, adopted a resolution, which formally decided that June 1 every year would be the children's festival of the whole world, that is, "61" International Children's day. After the international women's Democratic Federation made the resolution that June 1 should be the international children's day every year, on December 23, 1949, the 12th meeting of the executive yuan of the Central People '. From then on, the activity of April 4 of every year, which was recommended by the Chinese Society for mercy and children's day since 1931, was suspended. Therefore, June 1, 1950 became the first "61" International Children's day after the founding of the people's Republic of China. Since then, our country has held various activities on June 1 every year to celebrate "61" International Children's day.
