There was once a fool visited his friend.

　　The host offered him some food which he found tasteless. When the master of the house heard him complain, he added1 some salt to the dish.

　　The fool found the food now quite delicious. He thought, "The food is delicious because of the salt could produce this effect, a lot of salt must taste even better." The fool that he was, he started eating nothing but salt. Rather than tasting delicious. The salt spoiled his appetite2.

　　從前有一個(gè)愚人，他去別人家去做客。

　　主人端出食物來(lái)招待他，他嫌淡而無(wú)味。主人聽(tīng)了，便給他添了一點(diǎn)鹽。

　　愚人嘗過(guò)了加過(guò)鹽之后的美味食物，于是暗自忖度：“味道之所以這么美，是因?yàn)橛宣}的緣故。這么一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)鹽尚且如此，如果有很多鹽，味道豈不是更美？”愚人沒(méi)有知識(shí)，便去單獨(dú)吃鹽。結(jié)果胃口敗壞，反而受了苦楚。
