After graduating from high school, I faced the choice between going to college domestically(在國內(nèi))and studying abroad. Although it happened more than three years ago, the tangled feelings(糾結(jié)的心情) I experienced at that time are still impressive to me. Studying abroad was fairly attractive to many students, including me, for mainly two reasons. The first reason was that going abroad was aperfect excuse for us to avoid the college entrance examination, which was, it is not exaggerated to say(豪不夸張的說), everyone’s nightmare. The other reason is that many of us are curious about life in a foreign country, away from the control of parents. However, considering thatmy English skill isnot good enough to pass the SAT and I couldn’t communicate with local peoplesmoothly, I finallydecided to stay in China and join the college entrance examination. In this way, Iwould have moretime to improve my English. Actually, now I can say, that was a wise choice. Afterthe high school, I went to another city to go to college. At first, I felt overwhelmed(不知所措) aboutfacing all the stuff in a completely new place by myself, but I gradually got used to it and started to enjoy the freedom.I also made many friends coming from different countries. It felt amazing that people from all corners of the country(來自五湖四海) with different habits and stories were gathering together. Therefore, I feel really grateful about the choice I made, because I can’t imagine what I would miss if I chose the other way.

My childhood witnessed lots of moments of happiness (我的童年充滿了喜悅的瞬間,witness 見證), one of which was a part-time magician at the community theme park being the very personwhobrought me the most genuine laughter. As I can recall(在我的記憶中), he always dressed smart(穿 著正式), with a black top hat, colorful suit and a big smile on his face when he greeted every kid passing by and performed magic tricks for them. He impressed me the most on one of mybirthdays, when my parents took me to the theme park to celebrate. No sooner than he was informedby the kids around that it was my birthday than he approached me with a warm smile and handed me his magic black hat. (No sooner than (倒裝,他一了解到那天是我的生日,就帶著溫暖的微笑走向我,并遞給我他的黑色禮帽) In a mysterious tone, he instructed me to say a secret word to the hat and promised to work magic for the “birthday princess”. Not only was I entertained by his hilarious gestures and funny birthday songs, I was also amazed at the fact that his birthday gift, namely a princess crown, came out of the black hat at the blink of an eye. (not only, (but) also As an innocent child, I firmly believed that this little crown was magical, a secret power with which I could relive the exhilaration and excitement (非限定性定語從句,一種神秘的力量,能夠讓我重溫觀看他表演的興奮與激動) brought by the kind magician and his entertaining performances. For those toddlers like me, who for a briefmoment lived in a magic wonderland, he was completely awe-inspiring. His rich imagination, together with his amiable personality enriched our childhood memories.
