166. hit the spot 對胃口

hit the spot 是指“正中下懷”，指食物飲料給予人的滿足感。
A：I’m starving! 我快餓死了。
B：Here, Mom’s soup will hit the spot. 來，老媽做的湯絕對對你胃口。
另外也可以指生理上通體舒暢的滿足，好比洗個“熱水澡”hot bath，或是“按摩”(massage).
A：That Thai massage really hit the spot. 那泰式按摩真是正中下懷。
B：I need one, too. My muscles are really sore. 我也要來一個。我的肌肉真的很酸。

167. let down 讓人失望

let down 在字面上的意義是“讓….往下”，用在形容感受之時，就是指“讓…失望”的意思。對話中的let down是被動式，當(dāng)成形容詞用，意思是“感到失望的”。
A：Do you think you will remarry? 你覺得你會再婚嗎？
B：No, I don’t want to let down again.不會，我不想再失望一次。

你也可以說let….down“讓…失望”
A: You let me down again! 你又讓我失望了！
B: I’m sorry. I’ll remember your birthday next year.
對不起。我明年一定會記得你生日。

你也可以把它當(dāng)成名詞用，一個字letdown

168. A good/red catch 釣到大魚

釣魚的時候，若是一條大魚上鉤，那就是a good catch“抓到一條大魚”，不單晚餐有著落，說不定還可以賣個好價錢。
A：Wow, what a catch! What did you use? 哇！好大一條魚！你用了什么（當(dāng)誘餌）？
B：Just a worm. 只用了一條蟲。
A good catch 在日常用語中，常用來形容男女交往當(dāng)中的“金龜婿”，來表示理想中的好伴侶。

169. Act tough with…故作強硬

Tough 這個字，指的是“強悍的”，若是說“對…..很強悍、強硬”，就是be tough with….，對話中用了act 這個字，act tough with聽來的感覺傾向是“故意裝得很強硬”：
A：I’m so angry. I could hit you in the face. 我好生氣。我真的想揍你的臉。

170. Get it to work 讓它運作

Get….to work這個句型，若是用在事物身上，是指“讓…..能夠運作”，可能是指新創(chuàng)的東西，或是某個窒礙難行的制度，也可以單純指東西壞了。
A：My car broke down again. 我的車又壞了。
B：I bet I can get it to work. Where is it? 我打賭能讓它上路。車子在哪里？
若是get someone to work，則是指“讓（某人）做正事”，常與工作有關(guān)：
A：I got her back in to work after promising her a raise.
在保證給她加薪之后，我讓她回來上班了。
B：I want a raise, too.我也要加薪。
