1. uses vocabulary with full flexibility and precision in all topics
2. uses idiomatic language naturally and accurately
Flexibility
“season”這個詞大家都知道是“季節(jié)”的意思,如果講到自己家鄉(xiāng)季節(jié)時說“There are four seasons in my hometown: spring, summer, fall and winter”,這就不是靈活而是機(jī)械的使用,因?yàn)榇蠹覐男W(xué)習(xí)英文,都是機(jī)械似的只要提到季節(jié)一定是四個季節(jié),而且一定是春夏秋冬,才不管你那兒是否只有三個季節(jié)或者是不是沒有冬季什么的。
比如說我仍然表達(dá)四季,但是我這樣說 “there are four seasons: the green season, spring; the red season, summer; the golden season, autumn; and the silver season, winter, because each of the four seasons, I believe, features a different color…”,這就是靈活,雖然仍然是春夏秋冬,但是卻擁有了更豐富的意思。
也許有的地方就沒有四季,而是天天烈日炎炎,就可以說“Well, there are only three seasons in my hometown, the hot season, the hotter season and the hottest season”,這句話看似簡單卻巧妙的使用了“season”一詞描述出了熱帶地區(qū)的氣候特征。
例如“I’m so fed up with my life. There seems to be only one season for me throughout the year—the study season. I really wish I could have a holiday season”。
當(dāng)然,“season”也可以表示很多其它的意思,例如“調(diào)味”,我就可以說“She seems to enjoy a well-seasoned life”意思就是她的生活有趣且豐富多彩;我還可以說“He is a seasoned traveler”意思就是他是一個用豐富經(jīng)歷的旅行家。
假如某一天,我要寫一篇關(guān)于人的內(nèi)在美或者“don’t judge a book by its cover”這方面的內(nèi)容,這個短語就可以很好的被用上甚至作為標(biāo)題:“I suppose it will never happen, but what a nice thing it would be, if the beauty of ugliness was celebrated in our society. What if the ugly duckling story was rewritten? Instead of turning into a swan, the duckling could learn to appreciate its youthful ugliness. Imagine again, the ugly shall learn to face the world armed only with their character. It will only be through practice, determination and plain hard work that they shall succeed in life, love and relationships. It’s just like a wise man who once said: blessed are the ugly for they know who they really are.”
當(dāng)然,進(jìn)一步的學(xué)習(xí)還使我認(rèn)識到,這樣的說法實(shí)際上是一種被叫做“oxymoron”(矛盾修辭)的修辭方法,與此類似的還有“Let’s agree to disagree”,“Simplicity is not a simple thing”,“To lead people, walk behind them”等等,這些在以后的表達(dá)中也許都會用到。

My mother baked the cake and made some snacks. We had invited his friends, but had told them to keep it a secret from Roman.I bought some cold drinks and some ready made fritters and cutlets. Before Roman came home, we had done all decorations and had laid the table. When Roman came home, we welcomed him with a loud birthday greeting song and gave him some hugs.He was very happy.I had bought a storybook for him as a birthday gift.It was a book on tales from Panchromatic. My mother also gave him a box of chocolates. Then his friends started pouring in one by one.He cut the cake and we all wished him. Then we all ate the snacks and had the cold drinks. After that we played musical chairs and danced to our favorite music.
It's a great time and fun.

I would like to talk about a time I moved to a new apartment when I was in college in the United States. I have a very clear memory of it because it was the first time that I moved without the help of my parents. It was about five years ago, and I decided to move to a new apartment at that time because my old apartment raised the rent by a large margin, and I couldn’t afford it anymore. At first, I thought that this would not be a very difficult task because of my lack of experience at moving, so you know, I didn’t call anybody to help me. But it turned out that I made a terrible, terrible mistake. It took me almost a whole day to just clean my home and pack up everything, and I never realized that I had so much stuff in my home. I had loads of laundry and stacks of books, all of which I had to carry all by myself. What’s even worse was that I lived on the second floor and I had to carry all the heavy furniture through the stairs. I remember I almost broke my back on that day trying to drag my mattress onto the moving van. And when the job was finally finished, I looked like I just came out of a swimming pool. All my clothes were completely soaked by my sweat, and I felt like I didn’t even have the strength to lift a finger anymore. Still, after two days of hard work, the moving was finally complete. Even though I was exhausted, I still felt very happy that I moved into a new home all by myself for the first time.

Describe a favorite sport which you watched
You should say:
What it is
When you watch it
Who you watch it with
And explain why you like watching it
I'm going to talk about a swimming race, which took place in the Rio Olympic Game in 2016. When mentioning significant sport games in the entire world, the Olympic Game is absolutely the most renowned and influential one among people of all nations. And swimming races have always been a highlight of summer Olympic Games, especially for Chinese spectators. As a swimming buff, I enjoy watching them very much.
I still remember the most impressive race was men's 200 meters freestyle final, which was aired live on television and I had even set the alarm clock in case of missing the game. During the course, 8 world-class athletes competed for the honor of individual as well as their own nations, including Chinese metal hopeful Sun Yang. At the beginning, the race was tight. Every participant seemed to swimthe first half conservatively and there was almost no difference in their speed. Until the second half, Sun Yang, who was regarded as the gold medal favorite, noticeably accelerated his pace with lightning speed and successfully captured the gold metal.
Even now, when I recall the moment that Sun Yong won the champion, I'll feel excited and even hyper.
