袁隆平，國(guó)家最高科技獎(jiǎng)獲得者，世界公認(rèn)“雜交水稻之父”；“袁隆平股”，中國(guó)股市惟一的一支以人名為名的績(jī)優(yōu)股。然而，我們第一眼看見(jiàn)我們的這位校友，第一印象是：這個(gè)人太普通了，普通得有點(diǎn)兒像從某個(gè)山村里走出來(lái)的一個(gè)農(nóng)民！你看他膚色是那么的黝黑，身材是那么的精瘦，皺紋是那么的深刻。

Yuan Longping, the winner of the highest national science and technology award, is recognized as the "father of hybrid rice" in the world; and "Yuan Longping stock", the only outstanding stock in China's stock market under the name of a person. However, when we saw our alumni at first sight, our first impression was that he was so ordinary that he was a little like a farmer coming out of a mountain village! You see, his skin color is so dark, his body is so thin, and his wrinkles are so deep.

記得有一次，一家畫(huà)報(bào)刊登他的照片，編輯先生竟在照片下面給誤配了“農(nóng)民獲得豐收后的喜悅”的文字。這雖然是出版界一個(gè)不大不小的事故，但也說(shuō)明：袁隆平，他太像一個(gè)農(nóng)民了。他走在大街上，的確是屬于很快會(huì)被淹沒(méi)在人海中的那種人。

I remember once, when a pictorial published his picture, the editor mistook the words "the joy of farmers after harvest" under the picture. Although this is a minor accident in the publishing industry, it also shows that Yuan Longping is too much like a farmer. He walked in the street, really belongs to the kind of people who will soon be submerged in the sea of people.

“談雜交水稻”，這是袁隆平來(lái)母校為我們所作報(bào)告的題目。這個(gè)題目似乎也十分普通，沒(méi)有什么修辭的運(yùn)用，更沒(méi)有任何學(xué)術(shù)的賣(mài)弄。但我們深深地知道，在這個(gè)看似普通的題目的背后，有著太多的不普通。

"On Hybrid Rice", this is the topic of the report Yuan Longping gave to our alma mater. This topic seems to be very common, without any rhetorical use, not to mention any academic show off. But we deeply know that behind this seemingly ordinary topic, there are too many non ordinary.

1978年，袁隆平和他一家7口，擠在兩間用木板從澡堂隔出的潮濕發(fā)霉的小屋里，還要不時(shí)承受“不安心教學(xué)，專(zhuān)想歪門(mén)邪道”的冷嘲熱諷。但就是在這種背景下，他的雜交水稻研究終于取得決定性成果。這一切，是普通人所能做到的嗎？

In 1978, Yuan Longping and his family of seven were huddled in two damp and moldy huts separated from the bathhouse by wooden boards, and they were constantly subjected to the taunt of "uneasy teaching, thinking only of crooked ways". But it is in this context that his hybrid rice research has finally achieved decisive results. Is it all that ordinary people can do?

我們手捧著鮮花簇?fù)碇∑?，并一齊涌向他主講的報(bào)告廳，我們?nèi)绱藷崆?，一點(diǎn)也不比我們追逐心目中最紅的明星差。我們知道，我們也許并不能完全聽(tīng)懂他所要講的“雜交水稻”，但我們會(huì)用我們的心去感悟大師所說(shuō)的每一句話。

We surrounded Yuan Longping with flowers in our hands and rushed to the lecture hall where he was the speaker. We were so enthusiastic that we were not inferior to chasing the most popular star in our mind. We know that we may not fully understand his "hybrid rice", but we will use our hearts to understand every word of the master.

他開(kāi)場(chǎng)的第一句話是：“我只是個(gè)普通人……”

His first line of opening was: "I'm just an ordinary person..."

夠了，我們哪怕聽(tīng)懂的只有這一句話，就已經(jīng)夠了！我們從袁隆平身上，懂得了平凡與偉大的關(guān)系。

Enough, even if we only understand this sentence, it's enough! From Yuan Longping, we understand the relationship between ordinary and great.

這也是校友袁隆平給我們的最主要感受，的確這就夠了。
