No.2 The One With the Sonogram at the End
上集說(shuō)道Rach和Ross分別經(jīng)歷了感情鎮(zhèn)痛，這一集開始，Ross得知前妻Carol有了身孕，被迫同Carol的同志伴侶Susan一起，陪Carol參加助產(chǎn)訓(xùn)練班。Ross和Monica的父母來(lái)吃飯，由于Monica從小就在家里不如Ross優(yōu)秀，所以再次感到巨大壓力，只好抖出Ross和Carol的事情。Ross和Rachel同病相憐,Rachel把戒指還給Barry, 結(jié)果發(fā)現(xiàn)，Barry不僅沒有尋死覓活，反而過(guò)的很開心，原來(lái)他已經(jīng)和Rachel的伴娘Mindy好上了。這一集里面我選了十多個(gè)句子簡(jiǎn)單講解下。(PS:上次寫了一之后，很多壇子上的朋友提出了很多意見，大部分我都虛心接受了，在修訂版中，我會(huì)都改正過(guò)來(lái)。我的英語(yǔ)估計(jì)也就四級(jí)水平，所以所寫的只能是拋磚引玉。其實(shí)這里很多英語(yǔ)高手，希望大家能一起Continue...如果可能的話，我想聯(lián)系一下朋友，看看是否可能結(jié)集出版。)
1．Rachel: Everything you need to know is in that first kiss. 幾個(gè)好朋友在一起聊性的話題，Monica說(shuō)男人不懂接吻的重要性，Joey根本不屑一顧，于是Rachel說(shuō)了這樣一句話，意思是：初吻可以讓你明白一切。呵呵，是不是想起自己的初吻了？
2．Chandler: Yeah, I think for us, kissing is pretty much like an opening act, y'know? I mean it's like the stand-up comedian you have to sit through before Pink Floyd comes out. Chandler也發(fā)表了自己的觀點(diǎn)，他說(shuō)接吻很大程度上像是序幕（an opening act）,像是你聽Pink Floyd的音樂(lè)會(huì)之前不得不忍受的笑星們的表演一樣。Pink Floyd是美國(guó)一支很著名的樂(lè)隊(duì)。能聽出Chandler的潛臺(tái)詞吧？
3．Marsha: Well, she has issues. Issues在這里是煩惱、問(wèn)題的意思，以后碰到別人好像悶悶不樂(lè)的時(shí)候，你就可以上前來(lái)上一句Do you have any issues?
4．Carol: Marty's still totally paranoid.Carol去Museum里找Ross,Ross非常尷尬，于是沒話找話問(wèn)Carol的家人怎么看待她是Lesbian的事兒，于是Carol告訴他，馬堤仍然神經(jīng)兮兮的。Paranoid這個(gè)單詞是類似妄想狂的意思，有點(diǎn)histerical的意思。
5．Rachel: Oh, like I wasn't dreading tomorrow enough, having to give it back to him... 'Hi Barry! Remember me? I'm the girl in the veil who stomped on your heart in front of your entire family!' Oh God and now I'm gonna have to return the ring, without the ring, which makes it so much harder...這里“stomp on one’s heart”stomp是用腳踏的意思，可以想象用腳踏在心上是什么意思了吧，對(duì)，就是讓人心碎的意思。
6．Chandler: Kinda puts that whole pillow thing in perspective, huh, Mon?“kinda”在片中出現(xiàn)的次數(shù)非常頻繁，也是口語(yǔ)中非常實(shí)用的詞語(yǔ)，意思是有一點(diǎn)兒，相當(dāng)于kind of.這句話的意思比較令人費(fèi)解，結(jié)合場(chǎng)景，這里應(yīng)該是Chandler挖苦Monica不該早些把枕頭提前完全搞好。In perspective這里是提前的意思。
7．Monica: I know this is going to sound unbelievably selfish, but, were you planning on bringing up the whole baby/lesbian thing? Because I think it might take some of the heat off me.Ross和Monica的父母來(lái)看望他們，由于從小父母就喜歡Ross（因?yàn)镽oss成績(jī)優(yōu)異，為人老實(shí)，而Monica性格獨(dú)立，而且那時(shí)候還很胖chubby）,所以在吃飯的時(shí)候老是無(wú)意識(shí)的諷刺Monica,于是Monica想讓Ross提提自己老婆是Lesbian而且有了孩子的事兒轉(zhuǎn)移注意力。Take some of the heat off sb,這里是幫Monica減輕壓力的意思。
8．Mrs. Geller: Well, at least she had the chance to leave a man at the altar..."at the altar"應(yīng)該理解為“在婚禮上，在舉行婚禮時(shí)”，altar這里就可以理解為”教堂“，所以這句話的意思，我認(rèn)為應(yīng)該是：（雖然Rachel的父母為籌備婚禮花了不少錢，而Rachel又逃婚），但是至少Rachel還有機(jī)會(huì)在舉行婚禮之際離開那個(gè)男人，（言下之意，Monica到現(xiàn)在連個(gè)結(jié)婚還都沒有）。
9．Mr. Geller: Look, there are people like Ross who need to shoot for the stars, with his museum, and his papers getting published. Other people are satisfied with staying where they are- I'm telling you, these are the people who never get cancer. “shoot for”是爭(zhēng)取、得到或完成的意思。老爸蓋勒也似乎對(duì)女兒不太友好，他一方面贊揚(yáng)Ross，一方面不忘貶低Monica,說(shuō)她滿足于現(xiàn)狀不思進(jìn)取，說(shuō)她這樣的人絕對(duì)不會(huì)得癌癥…
10. Ross: Well, you may wanna steer clear of the word 'dumped'. Chances are he's gonna be this, this broken shell of a man, y'know, so you should try not to look too terrific, I know it'll be hard. Or, y'know, uh, hey!, I'll go down there, and I'll give Barry back his ring, and you can go with Carol and Susan to the OB/GYN... “wanna”=want to,口語(yǔ)中常這樣子簡(jiǎn)化，類似得還有”gonna”,就是going to得意思。Steer是駕駛掌舵的意思，“steer clear of the word”意思就是好好駕馭這個(gè)詞的意思，暗示Rach不要隨便亂用“dumped”，因?yàn)樗鳛橐粋€(gè)男人自尊可能會(huì)受傷害，所以雖然這樣做很難，但是還是不要顯得太神采飛揚(yáng)。“terrific”口語(yǔ)中多半用來(lái)表示贊賞,雖然它的本意是“令人恐慌的，糟糕的”。
11. Ross: How could I forget? 我覺得這句話應(yīng)該熟記，這樣你就可以咬牙切齒的對(duì)某個(gè)人，某件事說(shuō)“how could I forget?”，我怎么能忘記呢？打死我也不會(huì)忘記的?？梢韵胍奟oss當(dāng)時(shí)的神態(tài)了吧，真有種欲殺Susan而后快的感覺。
12. Ross: 'S'funny, um, uh, we agreed we'd spend the rest of our lives together. Things change, roll with the punches. I believe Julia's on the table..?“roll with the punches”punch除了打孔機(jī)的意思之外，還有打擊的意思，這里應(yīng)該是說(shuō)，讓這些打擊減輕一些吧（Roll就是滾的意思，那當(dāng)然是減輕了）。“on the table”是“在桌面上，公開的”意思，Ross認(rèn)為如果他和Carol的孩子是女兒的話，應(yīng)該光明堂皇的叫做Julia。
13．Chandler: I dunno, but.. I think it's about to attack the Enterprise. “dunno”是don’t know的縮寫，Chandler和Joey被逼著看sonogram的錄像帶，可是看得一頭霧水，Chandler居然說(shuō)似乎是胎兒要進(jìn)攻了。

我認(rèn)為企業(yè)號(hào)應(yīng)該是指《星際迷航》系列（名字可能不準(zhǔn)）中的太空戰(zhàn)艦。錢德是說(shuō)掃描圖象科幻電影中的雷達(dá)或某種探測(cè)的畫面。
應(yīng)該是STAR TREK里面的企業(yè)號(hào)吧，他諷刺小孩長(zhǎng)得難看啊

美國(guó)有架航天飛機(jī)也叫The Enterprise，好像只是試飛用的，聽說(shuō)是因?yàn)镾tar Trek Fans的強(qiáng)烈呼吁才起這個(gè)名字的。
至于Friends中提到的，我記得原話是"I think it's about to attack the Enterprise"，肯定是指Star Trek，Chan覺得那個(gè)超聲波圖看起來(lái)像是Alien Vessel。

Marsha: He's out banging other women over the head with a club, while she sits at home trying to get the mastodon smell out of the carpet!
Q:他在外頭用棍子痛擊其他女人的腦袋，而她卻坐在家里想方設(shè)法地讓野象聞到地毯的味道。這話什么意思？有點(diǎn)讓人莫名其妙。好像是想說(shuō)兩口子不合拍，但是感覺這樣理解理由也不是很充分，為什么打的是other women，而不是other men。茫然……
這里該是Masha和Ross調(diào)侃的一段話，沒有什么特殊含義，可是Ross卻非常較勁兒，居然真的和Masha討論起來(lái)究竟那些Mannequin所代表的原始人的煩惱起來(lái)，還說(shuō)他們應(yīng)該真正擔(dān)心的是冰河世紀(jì)的到來(lái)......真不接風(fēng)情，還好這時(shí)候Carol來(lái)了，解了Masha的圍。
2. Phoebe: She's already fluffed that pillow... Monica, you know, you've already fluffed that- (Monica glares at her.) -but, it's fine!
Monica: Look , I'm sorry, guys, I just don't wanna give them any more ammunition than they already have.
Q:ammunition在這里指什么？
A:ammunition的本意是“軍火、彈藥”，這里Monica給Phoebe解釋為什么她會(huì)這么在意枕頭是否“松”，因?yàn)樗幌胱屗莻€(gè)挑剔的母親又有更多口實(shí)來(lái)說(shuō)她。（雖然后面她母親還是沒有放過(guò)這么一個(gè)小小的細(xì)節(jié)）
3.Phoebe: Monica- Hi! Um, Monica, you're scaring me. I mean, you're like, you're like all chaotic and twirly. And not-not in a good way.
Q:chaotic and twirly是表示舉止反常的意思吧。
A:Phoe對(duì)正在弄枕頭的mon說(shuō)的“chaotic and twirly”其實(shí)是老美要來(lái)形容人“慌慌張張的……”的意思。（chaotic混亂的 、twirly團(tuán)團(tuán)轉(zhuǎn)的）
4.Chandler: Ugly Naked Guy got a Thighmaster!
Q:Thighmaster是什么？這句話什么意思？
A:Chandler突然發(fā)現(xiàn)他們六個(gè)人一直關(guān)心的裸男竟然買了一個(gè)健腿器，所以很驚訝的說(shuō)了這句話。那個(gè)裸男一直沒有露臉過(guò)，但是卻一直貫穿在這個(gè)電視中，常常會(huì)因?yàn)樗囊恍┦虑樽屵@六個(gè)人大發(fā)感慨。

這是什么意思?。?#39;doy指什么？

basically just trying to stay awake 我想是指男人通常就會(huì)搞得很沒心情

2.我想這是chandler的Joke Package的一部分吧.
Just imagine this:
When the show is over, the man drives his girlfriend home. On the way home, while the man is fighting with the heavy traffic, the woman is nagging crazily about the whole comedian thing like forever. The man doesn't see why his girl is so attacted to the geek comedian, and he is totally freaked out and feels like being tortured by her girlfriend. Like Chandler stated later in 50*, he can't screw up their relationship by telling the truth, like yelling at his girl "Would you just stop nagging, Mom(Mon), Gees. " He can do nothing but try to stay awake or learn how to sleep with his eyes open, otherwise he's gonna be in a very dangerous situation with his girl.
The same thing could probably happen after the 2 lovers made out. It seems like a rule for guys in Friends to discuss all the stuff related to "it" after making love , which is especially obvious in 301TOW the Leia. In that eppy, Rachel sold Ross out by revealing his little sexual fantacy to Phoebe.
So, I guess the by saying "in a car or fighting traffic" things, chandler indicates 2 lovers chat or "discuss"about sex, just like people like to talk about a show right after it is over. Unfortunately lovers have pretty good chances to be at odds with each other on this kind of occasion .
3.here, "comedian" means "kiss"(not "first kiss", rachel says "everything you need to know is in the first kiss", just because she think that "from the first kiss you can read his/her real feeling about you, so first kiss is important"), "concert" means "sex". When having sex, girls like something gentle and romantic like kiss, like move fingers on lovers' body(the stand-up comedian), while what boys really want is(mostly) just in-and-out, the physical excitement and the climax(that's Pink Floyd's live show, that's why we bought the ticket, hahahaha....). And after the sex, girls tends to hug and kiss and keep on enjoying the romance(looking for the comedian again), but boys..... u know, satisified and exhausted(we r in the car, we r fighting traffic), we always prefer falling in sleep. But not to piss off our sweetheart, boys have to hug back and kiss back and tell her 'I love you'......basically just trying to stay awake.

確實(shí)是很Blue，不過(guò)我覺得Friends最吸引人的地方之一就是以一種很隨意戲謔的態(tài)度討論性的問(wèn)題，很輕松很愉快(而且我覺得還算比較健康了)。我也問(wèn)過(guò)一些美國(guó)朋友，現(xiàn)實(shí)生活中他們也不會(huì)象那幫家伙那樣談性的問(wèn)題跟吃點(diǎn)心一樣隨意的，畢竟這是很隱私的問(wèn)題。

1、issues大部分的時(shí)候都可以解釋為“問(wèn)題”，但在不同的語(yǔ)境里面翻譯會(huì)有少許的不同，在這里可以理解成“她有點(diǎn)困擾（的事情）?！?br />
2、“He's out ”在這里表狀態(tài)，表示“他在外面……”，后面“banging other women over the head with a club”是他在外面所干的事。一般口語(yǔ)中常常會(huì)忽略語(yǔ)法，所以如果死摳語(yǔ)法，會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)很多不合語(yǔ)法的地方的。整句翻譯“他在外頭亂搞女人，而她卻待家里設(shè)法去除地毯上乳齒象的味道”。

2.我想這是chandler的Joke Package的一部分吧.
Just imagine this:
When the show is over, the man drives his girlfriend home. On the way home, while the man is fighting with the heavy traffic, the woman is nagging crazily about the whole comedian thing like forever. The man doesn't see why his girl is so attacted to the geek comedian, and he is totally freaked out and feels like being tortured by her girlfriend. Like Chandler stated later in 50*, he can't screw up their relationship by telling the truth, like yelling at his girl "Would you just stop nagging, Mom(Mon), Gees. " He can do nothing but try to stay awake or learn how to sleep with his eyes open, otherwise he's gonna be in a very dangerous situation with his girl.
The same thing could probably happen after the 2 lovers made out. It seems like a rule for guys in Friends to discuss all the stuff related to "it" after making love , which is especially obvious in 301TOW the Leia. In that eppy, Rachel sold Ross out by revealing his little sexual fantacy to Phoebe.
So, I guess the by saying "in a car or fighting traffic" things, chandler indicates 2 lovers chat or "discuss"about sex, just like people like to talk about a show right after it is over. Unfortunately lovers have pretty good chances to be at odds with each other on this kind of occasion .
3.here, "comedian" means "kiss"(not "first kiss", rachel says "everything you need to know is in the first kiss", just because she think that "from the first kiss you can read his/her real feeling about you, so first kiss is important"), "concert" means "sex". When having sex, girls like something gentle and romantic like kiss, like move fingers on lovers' body(the stand-up comedian), while what boys really want is(mostly) just in-and-out, the physical excitement and the climax(that's Pink Floyd's live show, that's why we bought the ticket, hahahaha....).
