NO.6 The One With the Butt
本集故事情節(jié)如下：Joey的新音樂劇《弗洛伊德》（《Freud》）上演了，大家一起去欣賞。在演出現(xiàn)場，Chandler邂逅一位美麗而富于異國風情的女郎Aurora，并開始同她約會。Joey因為那次演出被Leonard演藝公司相中，該公司給Joey為艾爾·帕西諾(Al Pacino)作其屁股替身的表演機會,結果Joey因表演過火而痛失良機。Rachel破天荒頭一遭打掃了公寓，但她卻移動了綠色軟椅(Green ottoman)，使Monica感覺不爽。Chandler發(fā)現(xiàn)Aurora已婚且另有男友，心里非常矛盾，當她繼續(xù)下一次獵男友行動時，Chandler終于決定退出。
1.Chandler: You can always spot someone who's never seen one of his plays before. Notice, no fear, no sense of impending doom...某種意義上來說Joey很可憐，很像《喜劇之王》里面的尹天愁，常常對別人說他是一個Actor,實際上卻從來沒有演過什么真正的Movie,還好他從來都沒有give up,這次參加了一個音樂劇《Freud》的演出，為了給他打氣，幾個老友都到了演出現(xiàn)場加油，Rach是第一次看Joey演出，很是為Joey興奮，Chandler則一語道破天機，說Rach這樣表現(xiàn)不過是因為她以前從沒看過Joey演出罷了，言下之意是說Joey的表演不怎么樣，他甚至還煞有介事的要Rach待會兒不要害怕也不要有世界末日即將來臨的感覺。而傻大姐Phoebe也補充說這次Joey很可能會演砸了，因為Title上大大的驚嘆號都嚇著她了，Joey飾演的居然是Freud! (The exclamation point in the title scares me. (Gesturing) Y'know, it's not just Freud, it's Freud!) ，大概是覺得弗洛伊德這個角色太難演繹了吧，說白了還是擔心Joey的水準。
2. Monica: Did anybody else feel they just wanted to peel the skin off their body, to have something else to do?看來Joey的演技也的確有待提高，好不容易演出結束，Monica發(fā)出了如下感嘆：別人（言下之意，他們五個是好朋友，實在是沒辦法逃避）會覺得寧愿剝皮，也不看這個演出（而是去做別的什么事情去）。
3.Chandler: So explain something to me here, uh, what kind of a relationship do you imagine us having if you already have a husband and a boyfriend?Chandler艷福不淺，在Joey的話劇現(xiàn)場勾搭上一個意大利MM,滿懷喜悅的去同她Date,沒想到對方不僅有丈夫，而且還有男朋友，這下Chandler搞不懂了，于是說了上面的話。Imagine sb + doing sth想象、設想某人做某事。
4.Rachel: Look! I cleaned! I did the windows, I did the floors... I even used all the attachments on the vacuum, except that little round one with the bristles, I don't know what that's for. Rachel以前是個千金小姐，沒做過什么事情，這次不知道哪根神經出了毛病，竟然收拾起屋子來，老友們回來后還主動上前邀功請賞，說她擦了窗子（did the windows）、抹了地板（did the floors）。Do這里相當于wipe、sweep。Attachment means “A supplementary part; an accessory”,附屬物、附件、附屬裝置。除之外，還有依戀和愛慕的意思。Vaccum這里指吸塵器。
5. Chandler: Thank God you didn't try to fan out the magazines. I mean, she'll scratch your eyes right out.。沒想到Monica做事一向井井有條，對于Rach擅作主張改變屋子里的狀況很是不滿，尤其發(fā)現(xiàn)Rach還動了那個綠色軟椅后更是很不高興。Chandler不失時機的又火上澆油，說還好Rach沒把雜志也給弄亂了，否則眼珠子都會被Monica挖出來（scratch your eyes right out）?！癴an out”成扇形散開，這里可以譯作（扇狀）攤開。
6. Chandler: Someone's left a glass on the coffee table. There's no coaster. It's a cold drink, it's a hot day. Little beads of condensation are inching their way closer and closer to the surface of the wood...關于Rach勞動的評價最后演變成了關于Monica的揭短會，Chandler再次發(fā)鏢，說Monica太過于挑剔了，他舉了個例子，說在炎熱的天氣里，有人在Coffee table上放了一杯冷飲，卻沒有用coaster墊著，結果眼看著凝結后的小水珠慢慢地慢慢地越來越流向桌面。這里需要理解coaster，coast是海岸的意思，coaster的含義是近海貿易貨船，但它還有杯墊的含義（A disk, plate, or small mat placed under a bottle, pitcher, or drinking glass to protect a table top or other surface beneath）。Condensation：凝結、濃縮。
7. Rachel: Ooh, do I sense a little bit of resentment?Chandler: No, no resentment, believe me, it's worth it. 'Kay? Y'know in a relationship you have these key moments that you know you'll remember for the rest of your life? Well, every- single- second is like that with Aurora.. and I've just wasted about thirty-five of them talking to you people, so, uh.. Monica, can you help me with the door? (He has armloads of stuff.)
“sense a little bit of resentment”這個用法比較地道，“我怎么感覺到了一點兒怨恨的味道？”，Chandler馬上反駁說沒有，他接下來的一段話可以轉換形式記下來，“In a relationship,we have some key moments that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.”在戀愛的時候，我們會有一些（關鍵的）甜蜜時刻永遠記得。
8. Director: I think his butt would like to get this shot before lunch. Once again, rolling... water working... and action....and cut. What was that? shot子彈、炮彈、開槍、射擊，這里則是機會的意思?？蓱z的Joey,雖然只是出演butt，對于他來說居然也是個shot,希望他別blow it.
我覺得get this shot,應該解釋成拍完洗澡這一段鏡頭即導演的意思是說在午飯前完成Butt double這段。Shot確切地說有在電視上露頭的意思。
9. Chandler: I know there'll be many moments in the years to come when I'll regret asking the following question, but- And Andrew is?同7一樣，作為一種表達方式記下來。Regret doing sth,后悔做某事。Chandler在以后的日子里很可能會有很多次（many moments）后悔問了這樣的問題。
10. Chandler: ...Well, y'know, part of me wants that, but it's like I'm two guys, y'know? I mean, one guy's going 'Shut up! This is great!' But there's this other guy. Actually it's the same guy that wells up every time that Grinch's heart grows three sizes and breaks that measuring device... And he's saying, y'know, 'This is too hard! Get out! Get out!'人都有欲望和理智，我喜歡Chandler和其他老友，不是因為他們只有理智沒有情感，而是因為他們有著原始的本能，但卻能夠控制邪念，Chandler本來以為自己能夠接受和Aurora的不正當關系，但是終歸還是說服了自己。這里他就很直白的說出了心聲，內心中兩個人不斷拌嘴和斗爭。Well up涌出、涌現(xiàn)、涌起。Grinch好像是圣誕節(jié)故事中的一個童話人物。
11.Rachel: Really? Just casually strewn about in that reckless haphazard manner?記住幾個形容詞, casually偶然地、隨便地、臨時的；Reckless不計后果地；haphazard偶然地、隨便地。Monica忘記把鞋子拿進屋子了，卻硬著頭皮說無所謂，于是Rachel說了上面的話。Strewn about中，strewn是strew的過去式，about相當于around。
